100 County Report on High Speed Internet Access


The December 2005 High-Speed Internet Access Study continued the examination of the availability of cable modem, DSL, satellite and wireless services in North Carolina first reported in December 2002. The study presents:

• A 2005 Executive Summary of the services and data on high-speed Internet access in North Carolina.
• descriptions of cable modem, DSL, satellite and wireless services
• maps showing the deployment of cable modem, DSL and a composite of these services, median household incomes and the connectivity challenged counties
• considerations and recommendations
• definitions and methodologies

The map does not include wireless or satellite coverage data due to the difficulty of determining the household coverage area with a comfortable level of certainty.

100 County Report for 2005
The 100 County Report includes:

• High-speed Internet access data for each county
• Service providers for CATV, Telcos, Satellite and Wireless services
• A map of the Telco providers in each county
• A map of the North Carolina Cable Television Franchise Areas

The Provider Directory provides a list of Cable, Telco, Satellite and Wireless providers in the state.
